About this item

  • Radial flow design for whole house volume: water passes through a deep bed of granular activated carbon with minimal pressure drop, so you get chlorine taste and odor reduction at full household flow rates without starving your fixtures. That is what the radial flow format exists for.
  • Radial flow means water enters through the outer wall and travels inward to the hollow core, passing through the full thickness of the carbon rather than along its length. On a cartridge this size that gives a large contact area at low resistance, which is the reason a whole house line can run carbon at all.
  • A direct replacement for RFC20-BB and RFC20-BBSA cartridges, and the same standard size as EP20-BB, CBC-20BB, FLOPLUS-20BB, NCP-20BB, CB-45-2005 and WRC25HD20. If any of those numbers appears on the cartridge you are pulling out, this is the right replacement.
  • Check the size before ordering. These are 20 inches long and 4.5 inches wide, the big blue format, and not the 10 inch big blue or the slim line 2.5 inch cartridge. All three are white cylinders that look much the same in a photograph and none of them are interchangeable.
  • Carbon exhausts rather than clogging. A sediment cartridge warns you it is finished by dropping your water pressure; carbon gives no such signal and simply stops reducing taste and odor while the flow stays the same. Change on a schedule, typically every six to twelve months. Compatible replacement made by CFS, not an original manufacturer part.
