Start with 40 grit for aggressive stock removal, stripping rust, and grinding down welds on stainless steel, carbon steel, cast iron, titanium, and other ferrous metals. Move up to 60 or 80 grit for blending and surface prep, or finish with 120 grit for a smooth, refined surface.
